彩钢板涂层是冷轧钢板、镀锌钢板，进行表面化学处理后涂敷（辊涂）或复合有机薄膜（PVC膜等），再经烘烤固化而制成的产品。也有人把这种产品称之为“预辊涂彩钢板”。目前用于彩色涂层钢板的涂料种类有聚酯涂层(PE)、氟碳涂层(PVDF)、硅改性涂层(SMP)、高耐侯涂层(HDP)、丙稀酸涂层、聚氨脂涂层(PU)、塑料溶胶涂层(PVC)等。PE涂料对于材质有良好的附着性，彩涂钢板易于加工成型，价廉且产品多，颜色和光泽的选择余地大。聚酯涂料对耐紫外光性与涂膜耐粉化性，并不理想，因此PE涂料的使用仍需受到一些限制，一般用在空气污染不严重的地区或需多次成型加工的产品。
